Major New Developments Are Reshaping Orange County in 2026

Several large-scale projects are changing the shape of Orange County this year. Work began in April 2026 on an 83-acre mixed-use development at the former Westminster Mall site, planned to include more than 2,000 homes, a hotel, and commercial space. In Irvine, The Canopy, a 90,000-square-foot retail project at the Great Park anchored by T&T Supermarket, broke ground in spring 2026 as part of the roughly 1,347-acre, $1.1 billion Great Park buildout. Nearby, the Tustin Legacy Community continues development on the former Marine Corps Air Base site, bringing new-construction housing to a part of Tustin that hasn't seen ground-up development at this scale in decades.

What this means for OC homeowners

As these new communities take shape, established neighborhoods nearby often see a wave of renovation and upgrade activity too, homeowners investing in their own properties to keep pace with newly built ones close by, including exterior features like gates, fencing, and curb-appeal upgrades.
